Discover The Lush Evergreen Of Norfolk Island
Lying between Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia is Norfolk Island, a lush, green paradise of evergreen pine trees surrounded by the royal blue waters of the South Pacific Ocean. With summer approaching, now’s the time to start thinking about paying a visit.
You get the sense of real isolation when you holiday on Norfolk Island. There are no railways or harbours, and even the roads give cows right of way. At 35 square kilometres in size with a coastline spanning 32km, you can discover peaceful simplicity right here, whether it’s on the beach, in the woods or wandering through historical ruins.
Despite its remoteness, there’s plenty of action on and around the island. Adventure enthusiasts will relish the chance to surf, swim, windsurf, sail, snorkel, scuba dive and canoe in the ocean’s waters. While history buffs can discover tales of the many settlers on Norfolk Island, including the first fleet and convicted men and women.
The seasons on Norfolk Island are similar to those on the Australian mainland; summer is December – March and winter June – September. It is the perfect time to celebrate the beginning of summer with the annual Jazz Festival. From 30th November – 3rd December, the pine trees, sandy beaches and dramatic clifftops will come alive with jazz music day and night. The likes of Feral Swing Katz, The Andrew London Trio, The Jazz Factory and Camille Te Nahu will delight the ears during one of the island’s most loved events, which beckons locals and visitors to get in the festival spirit this summer.
With the warm weather just around the corner and plenty of reasons to take a trip to Norfolk Island, make sure you get your ticket to the Jazz Festival at www.norfolkislandjazzesitup.nlk.nf
