DJ Maseo From De La Soul Performing Live At The Espy

Known all over the world for his role as one-third of legendary Hip Hop group De La Soul, DJ Maseo AKA Mase… Pasemaster Mase… PLUG 3, is bringing his immense talents on the turntable to Australia.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Maseo’s interest in music emerged at the age of six after observing a family friend practicing on his DJ equipment. His ambitious journey to stardom officially began when his mother gave him his very own set of turntables thus began his destiny. Dedicating all of his free time to honing his craft, Maseo made his debut as a DJ at the age of twelve. By the time he reached high school his DJ skills were immeasurable. That’s when his life would be changed forever as he and two of his high school friends, Kelvin Mercer (AKA Posdnous… Plug One) and David Jolicouer (AKA Trugoy… Plus Two), formed one of the most highly respected and critically acclaimed rap groups, De La Soul.

They were an instant success in 1989 after releasing their first album, the classic 3 Feet High and Rising one of the greatest debuts in Hip Hop history which at the time was certified platinum, an incredible feat for a young group just starting out. They were also heralded for bringing positivity into the game.
