Want cheap, clean and green accommodation? Eco Beach YHA in Apollo Bay is the perfect hostel accommodation for a Great Ocean Road trip! With two self-catering kitchens, wood heater, rooftop deck for chilling out or cooking on the BBQ. Solar electricity and solar hot water systems mean that the hostel has 50% lower emissions than traditional hostels!
There are 4 share dorms (male/female), as well 4 share mixed. There are also double and family rooms if you feel like a little more privacy during your stay. As a bonus, YHA members save at least 10% on accommodation prices as well as discounts on eateries, entertainment and attractions in the local area. If you are not a member already, sign up at the hostel or online before you get there at www.yha.com.au/membership
Facilities at Eco Beach YHA include: BBQ, internet/email computer room, warm open fireplace, free on site parking, quiet reading room, huge flat screen TV, beanbags and couches in three lounges, a tour desk, brochures on all the surrounding areas, loads of DVD’s available to borrow at reception, 2 clean well-stocked stainless steel kitchens, rooftop complete with deckchairs and sea views!
Eco Beach YHA is in driving distance to the Cape Otway Lighthouse -look at the amazing view of the ocean. You can visit one of the surrounding national parks, rain forests or waterfalls. The world famous Twelve Apostles and Lord Arch Gorge are a scenic 1.5 hour drive further along the coast.
If you are feeling energetic the Otway Fly Treetop walk is driving distance from the hostel and a great way to experience the surrounding forests from the treetops! Experience the Otway Rainforest and enjoy wild life sightseeing, guests often sight koalas in the trees.
Complete the Great Ocean Walk, and be rewarded with some of the greatest views the Great Ocean Road has to offer. Other activities in Apollo Bay include: windsurfing, snorkeling, horse riding along the beach and paragliding. Kayak with seals, swim in the ocean, learn to surf, go fishing, or hike the Otways Ranges.
Eco Beach YHA is 100 meters from the nearest food store, and environmentally friendly bags are available to borrow to bring back your food shopping.
Feel like staying in? You are more than welcome to open a bottle of wine and swap stories with fellow travelers in one of the very comfy Eco Beach YHA lounges. Alternatively, Apollo Bay Bistro is walking distance from Eco Beach YHA, and is complete with a well stocked sports bar and TAB.
