Elmo Puppeteer In Sex Scandal
It is about time someone looked into why grown men choose to work in Children’s Television. Now, we’re not saying everyone who works on Children’s TV shows is a paedo, but we can’t help but notice the number of stories that are suddenly being brought to light. (Jimmy Savile, Freddie Starr, and ye old faithful Garry Glitter… ahem)
Today it was announced that the Sesame Street puppeteer, Kevin Clash, a.k.a the voice behind the loveable character Elmo has taken a leave of absence following allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy.
Elmo puppeteer, Kevin Clash, has denied the allegations. The 52-year-old released a statement acknowledging a relationship with his accuser, but denied he had sexual contact while he was a minor. Producers have granted him a leave of absence as he ‘exercised poor judgement’.
The poor judgement is in reference to a number of racy emails that Clash sent to the teenager. In his emails he apologised for constantly discussing sex, writing “I’m sorry that I keep talking about sex with you, it’s driving me insane.”
Clash reportedly wrote, “I’m here to protect you and make sure your dreams come true.”Although that does sounds like a line from Jim’ll Fix It, he puts his hand up the backside of a baby-ish male puppet for a living, and asks people to tickle him… we reckon he just got confused.
Have your say @BBMLive
