Elvis Costello And The Imposters Return To Australia
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Elvis Costello is returning to Australia, and there’s more good news, he’s bringing The Imposters with him. No stranger to the country, Costello has toured Australia a dozen times, so whether you’re a seasoned fan or a newcomer to his music, the man clearly knows how to put on a show to satisfy every time.
With almost four decades of experience to his name and a whopping 40 albums released, Costello is something of a music legend. Whilst many artists dream of having just one album to call their own, this is one superstar who could fill an entire iTunes library with his own voice alone. Not that Elvis is the selfish sort, his talents have been shared with some big names, having performed with The Attractions, The Imposters and his even sharing the glory during solo shows with pianist Steve Nieve. What does all this collaboration of talented musicians mean? That’s right, great music that’s diverse enough to sustain a 40 year stint.
With Grammy Awards, ASCAP’s prestigious Founders Award, an Oscar Nomination and being inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, Elvis Costello has done it all. Probably twice. And a number of artists have wanted in on the action, with his songs delivered by artists as varied as Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Dusty Springfield, George Jones, Robert Wyatt, and the gospel vocal group The Fairfield Four. Now it’s your chance to pretend for one night only that you too are a wildly successful music maestro and join in with Costello himself.
With songs new and old on the playlist Costello will give two special performances, one at Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide on Thursday 17th April 2014 and one at Sydney State Theatre on Wednesday 23rd April 2014. Tickets go on sale Thursday 28th November 2014 at 9am.
