Departing from Darwin, you spend your first day in Litchfield National Park, beginning with an introduction to the Limilngan-Wulna people, the traditional owners of the land. After learning skills such as how to play the didgeridoo and throw a spear, you take a cruise on the Mary River Wetlands, where you’re likely to spot a crocodile or two lurking in the waters. After all of this excitement, you spend your first night at the Mary River campsite.

Wake up with the sun on day two for your entry into Kakadu National Park. The largest of all of Australia’s national parks, it is 20,000 square kilometres of differing landscapes dotted with pools, gorges and waterfalls. Your first experience of Kakadu is of the ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr, where you can climb high to get a spectacular view of the Nardab floodplains. A hike to Barramundi Gorge in the afternoon ends with a swim in the plunge pools to cool off from the heat, and come evening, it’s time to head to the campsite for dinner and bed.
It’s arguable that Kakadu Wild Expeditions save the best ‘til last on this tour. After some 4WD action, you and your group make your way to Jim Jim Falls. Take in the stunning sight of the 200m wall as it towers above you, and then continue on to Twin Falls, another gem of the north. A gorgeous gorge, you get the unique opportunity to feel the power of the falls from a boat and boardwalk experience. Leaving Twin Falls, it’s time to head back to Darwin, but you’re treated to the amazing scenery of Kakadu on your return.
