Embark On A Trans Mongolian Train Journey
A classic adventure trail from the capital of China, through Mongolia, to the picturesque Russian city of St. Petersburg, this Trans Mongolian train journey is titled The Vodkatrain, but you’ll be experiencing much more than just the sharp taste of Smirnoff.
Across 21 days, four train rides and three countries, you can spot camels, swim in Lake Baikal, explore Moscow’s Red Square and discover the live music scene in St. Petersburg. Beginning your journey in Beijing, try your hand at haggling in the markets and spend a few days in the iconic Chinese capital. Your first train ride arrives in Ulaanbaatar where you can try throat singing and take in the landscape of Terelj National Park and spend a night in a traditional Ger Camp. On board the Trans Mongolian Railway, descend into Irkutsk where the waters of Lake Baikal await.
The Trans Siberian Railway presents changing landscapes before you roll into Moscow and get the chance to visit the Kremlin, Lenin’s tomb and St Basil’s on the Red Square. Your final three days are spent in St. Petersburg, where your Honcho (local tour guide) will show you their favourite spots.
On this epic trip, you get the help of a Honcho in Beijing, Mongolia, Irkutsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Accommodation is based on twin, triple or dorm rooms, with a strong chance of making new friends for life.
You can do this journey from Beijing to St. Petersburg and vice versa, so you can travel further onto Scandinavia or Vietnam, depending on where you end up. With Vodkatrain, your adventure doesn’t have to end once the 21 days are over.
Find out everything they can do for your Trans Mongolian journey, and others available, when they set up at the Adventure Travel Expo in Sydney on 8th & 9th November.
