EP Review: Allman Brown – Ancient Light
Allman Brown’s ‘Ancient Light’ EP is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before.
Having made it big last year with single ‘Sons And Daughters’ featuring Liz Lawrence, Allman Brown has returned with his second EP to offer listeners a more mature sound.
Brimming with velvety-smooth vocals throughout, Allman opens his ‘Ancient Light’ EP with the single of the same name. As faint as his vocals are, Allman embodies peacefulness in his melodies – not only on the opening track, but also throughout the 4-track EP.
‘Ancient Light’ also includes two collaborations. ‘Shape of You’ features Canadian artist and producer Lowell, while ‘Field of England’ collaborates with UK blog darling Sophie Jamieson on backing vocals – both tracks offering a Bon Iver-esque soulful Folk sound.
The ‘Ancient Light’ EP is released via Akira Records on 9th June 2014.
