EP Review: Braids – In Kind // Amends
This four track EP from Montreal’s art rockers Braids is a striking example of originality as the three-piece have brought together a wide range of influences to create a unique and eclectic array of music.
For those new to the group, introductions begin with ‘In Kind’. The most upbeat track on the EP, it’s filled with pulsing rhythms, progressing drums and an extraordinary assortment of vocals that conjure up the image of Bjork’s unwritten masterpiece.
The EP then spans out into a much more chilled out affair that continues to showcase a brilliant grasp of the voice being used more as an instrument, rather than a leading hook line. Blips and clicks can be heard throughout, and you’ll be lost in the soundscape for days trying to figure out where each noise is coming from.
Braids have shown us exactly what they are capable of and we can’t wait to hear more.
