EP Review: Letters To Fiesta – Aphorism
Newcomers Letters To Fiesta have only two singles available to listen to online, yet their unusual sound has already attracted widespread attention.
Atmospheric synths build a slow and steady introduction to EP opener ‘Tears Apart’ which provides a strong indication of the EP’s overall tone. Tribalistic, toe-tapping drumming supplies the pace although it’s front woman Anna’s squealing Kate Bush-esque vocals that take centre stage.
Fans of bands like Yeasayer or CHVRCHES will appreciate what Letters To Fiesta have to offer but for those who don’t want to be overly bombarded by invasive sounds, such as the strength of the vocals, it might be best to leave this one alone.
It’s an interesting debut EP and does effectively display all that Letters To Fiesta have to offer. It could however have lead listeners in a little more smoothly as the brash, although melodic, vocals against a heap of bold Electro-Indie elements might seem a little overwhelming for first time listeners.
