TEED RETURNS WITH DUAL SINGLE ‘DESIRE’ / ‘THE ECHO’
NEW SONGS PREVIEW A NEW ERA FOR THE ARTIST (FORMERLY KNOWN AS TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS) THAT YEARNS, CELEBRATES, AND EXPLORES CONNECTION AT THE END OF THE WORLD
BUY/STREAM: TEED – DESIRE / THE ECHO
TEED (formerly Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) returns with ‘Desire’ / ‘The Echo,‘ a two-track digital single that offers a stunning introduction to a new chapter in Orlando Higginbottom’s artistic journey. It’s the first new music since 2022’s When the Lights Go and a thrilling glimpse of what’s still to come.
‘Desire’ leads the release – a psych-electro-pop gem built around a propulsive drum groove, hypnotic synth melody, and Higginbottom’s signature falsetto, floating above it all like a ghost in the light. “I’m looking for love in your arms tonight / Is it too late?” he implore’s across the track’s dancefloor pulse. “On that song, I’m yearning for connection at the end of the world,” he explains. The song arrives paired with ‘The Echo,’ an ebullient club track that taps into the joy and inspiration that first made him fall in love with music.
‘Desire’ / ‘The Echo’ is the opening transmission from a body of work that finds Higginbottom reclaiming the joy of creation. In the years since his last LP, he’s deliberately reoriented his process – separating music from industry noise, rediscovering pleasure in songwriting, and reconfiguring his own sense of success. “It’s not nostalgia exactly,” he says of the new music, “it’s more of a reframing of the memory of what music first made me feel from my present perspective.”
With two GRAMMY nominations, global festival appearances, and a stacked list of collaborators under his belt (including SG Lewis, The Blessed Madonna, Mark Ronson, and more), TEED has had plenty of reasons to walk away. But instead, he’s re-emerged, sharper in his focus and more in love with music than ever.
“Making and releasing music is an act of hope,” Higginbottom says. “And hope is resistance.”
