
Exercise Makes You Brainy
We all know that people who lead a healthy lifestyle reap the benefits; bundles of energy, glowing skin and radiating good vibes. This often isn’t appealing enough to bypass a greasy burger after a night out, but what if these keen lovers of exercise are also becoming brainy through their active lifestyles.
Intense exercise has been found to improve the academic performance of teenagers, with direct links between exercise and exam success. It doesn’t call for hard core iron man challenges either, with an increase in performance for every 17 minutes of exercise for boys, and just 12 minutes for girls. That’s a pretty achievable amount of time, even a power walk to the office or a quick jog down the road seems worth it if it means climbing the ladder of success. Not that we’re getting ahead of ourselves here.
This link has been found to be true for children ages 11-16, so it might well be true for adults too. Maybe there’s more to the staying ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ that parents always adopt when trying to tempt their children away from the computer and into the ‘lovely day outside’.
