Expansion To The Working Holiday Visa Program
The proposed action by the Abbott Government to stretch out the reach of the Working Holiday Visa (WHV) to more countries across the world is a positive step. The step is in the right direction by Australia, whose economy is in a current state of boom.
The figures back the proposition, as there has been an encouraging rapid climb in numbers in regards to the successful application of WHVs. These people have been recorded from a wide variety of countries from Europe such as the UK, Germany and France as well as in Asia/South East Asia like South Korea and Taiwan.
Australia is a land full of exciting travel and working experiences and to combine the two is an appealing option to thousands of travellers. So it makes sense for them to apply for a WHV.
With stats showing more than 249,000 Working Holiday Visa being given during the 2012-2013 period, the number of successful applicants has been rising year on year. However in the current position, WHVs are restricted to the existing number of countries that are permitted to hold such visa. But, the expansion plans are set to open the door to many more countries, with Greece, Mexico, Portugal and the Czech Republic along with many more.
Furthermore, the migration department dealing with 2nd Working Holiday Visa applications has seen the numbers grow, similar to that of the WHV. In 2005-2006, as much as 2,692 2nd WHVs were applied for and compared to the numbers collected for 2012-2013, travellers in Australia have been eager to extend their stay.
A 2nd Working Holiday Visa is given to those who have completed the 88 days/3 months of regional work in Australia and then receive another 12 months on their visa. Since the 2nd WHV was introduced in 2005, there has been a tremendous increase of applications up until 2012-2013, with 38,862 visas being granted.
Applying for a Working Holiday Visa is an excellent way for any young traveller who has hopes of discovering Australia, its wonderful culture and history. As well as enjoy all the adventure activities it has to offer!
