Experience La Tomatina This Summer

Arguably the craziest festival around, join First Festival Travel at the end of August in the beautiful city of Valencia for the World’s largest food fight – La Tomatina! What is La Tomatina you ask? Every year since 1945, on the last Wednesday of August approximately 22,000 participants from all over the World gather in Bunol and join the locals in throwing 145,000kg of tomatoes at each other! The fiesta will officially begin at 11am on Wednesday 29th August this year when the first rocket goes off, or when someone manages to claim the ham (yes an actual ham) from a greased pole. The first of the six lorries will make its way down the packed street and through the sardine-like crowd, with locals lobbing the most ridiculous amount of tomatoes at them. Grab those tomatoes and get throwing, squashing, flinging – you have exactly one hour!

First Festival is also proud to offer the exclusive and highly recommended Wine & Water festival taking place in a tiny Spanish town the night before La Tomatina. This is a truly authentic and unique street party and will make your La Tomatina experience that much more memorable. Most of our passengers soak up the opportunity (excuse the pun) to be covered in red wine and water by the locals of Requena – who wouldn’t? With a bull arena, music competition and street parade, it’s an unforgettable night. Well, depending on how much of the free wine you manage to collect in your plastic ‘vessel’…

The prize is for one ticket-holder only on the 4 Day Deluxe La Tomatina Package with First Festival Travel from 29th August – 1st September 2016. Flights are not included and the winner must make their own way to Valencia. They will be allocated a room with another traveller of the same gender. Entries close 21st March 2016 and the winner will be picked at random and notified by email, so please enter with an email address that you can check regularly and check your junk folder. If we don’t receive confirmation from the winner within 72 hours, a new winner will be chosen. The winner has until 30th June 2016 to claim their prize by contacting First Festival Travel.
