Farm Festival 2014: 1st – 2nd August
For a hearty helping of rich British countryside, astonishingly affordable Ales and Ciders and, most importantly, an intimate atmosphere hosting some of the UK’s best emerging talent, head to Farm Festival 2014; the cost-effective UK music festival guaranteed to reignite your love for the great outdoors. Farm Festival 2014: 1st – 2nd August
Initiated back in 2006, Farm Festival was the brainchild of a group of six Somerset locals who wanted to offer an affordable alternative to the overpriced, corporate monster festivals that dominate the UK music circuit every summer. Originally playing host to an intimate crowd of just 400, Farm Fest now capacitates their full quota with 4,500 guests flocking to Somerset’s best music festival every year. Despite this new-found popularity, Farm Fest still remains sponsor-free and allows anyone who’s anyone to come along and bask in the sunny, friendly vibes that the festival provides.
Headliners set to grace the stage this August 2014 will include Public Service Broadcasting, Melt Yourself Down and another very special – but very secret – headliner still to be announced; plus support in the form of Alpines, Beaty Heart, Laid Blak, Jus Now Live, Skinny Lister and heaps more. Festival goers will also be treated to live DJ sets from Ralph Lawson, DJ Food, Channel One Soundsystem, Romare, Leo Zero and The Kelly Twins, plus a huge variety of other sonic delights.
Also set to maximise the good vibes at the Farm this year will be the brand new ‘Milky Way’ themed area, where a galaxy full of arts, crafts, fitness, carnivals, workshops, storytelling, competitions and relaxation will keep you entertained for the duration of your stay. Additionally, a late night party area will be introduced to the festival program for 2014, ensuring plenty of moonlit boogying and star-sprinkled escapades even after the sun sets!
With transport to the remote festival made as simple as possible, getting to Farm Festival 2014 is easier than you think. Situated on the A359 between Bruton and Frome, the festival is roughly 130 miles south west of Central London and 30 miles south of Bristol. If travelling from London, catch a train from Paddington and change at Westbury to travel the remaining 20 minute journey to Bruton station via a Weymouth-bound train.
Weekend tickets can be obtained now for the absurdly purse-friendly price of just £52.50, with a donation from every ticket going to a local charity – grab yours now for a guilt-free summer treat and rest assured that your hard-earned cash is going to a good cause!
