Forss Announce New Album – Ecclesia
Looking for something a little different?
Forss has announced ‘Ecclesia’ an album that is as much about the visual as it is the music.
The team, an agnostic Swedish electronic music producer, a graphic designer from Vienna and a German CGI artist have taken classical church harmonic music and mixed it with electro and beats.
Along with the accompanying iPad app it is a feast of sight as well as sound.
A true blend of ancient and modern.
Eric Wahlforss, creator of Forss, was inspired by the sounds of church organs and choirs at a young age and intends to bring his own interpretation of the essence of the music with Ecclesia.
“To me there is something magical about choir music in particular. It is untouchable – a higher art form that I have never been able to practice myself. It has a very strong emotional impact on me in general. It is the music I regard the highest.”
To create the sounds, he took recordings of strings, choirs and organs as well as ambient sounds of the congregation to build the harmony and melody. The percussion and rhythm is made up from samples of the wooden, stone and metallic noises of objects found in churches.
He teamed up with Leo Lass of Depart and CGI artist Marcel Schobel to create the added experience of the iPad app. They believe the elegance of the iPad beautifully complements the feeling of the album and it had been a long time ambition to complete such a project.
Opening performance at Berghain, Berlin and App launched May 2nd
Full Album Release June 12th
