London and Brighton based promoters Beat Redemption have never been afraid to explore the deeper side of dubstep and the experimental strands of the sound and over the last couple of years have taken to some of East London’s prime warehouse spaces and Brighton’s renowned Concorde 2 with the likes of Flying Lotus, Martyn, Joker, Pearson Sound, Starkey, Mala and Kode 9.

On Friday 7th October Beat Redemption brings their musical ethos to FOUND, presenting the multi-talented Ben Westbeech (AKA Breech), only a few weeks after the release of his highly anticipated album ‘There’s More To Life Than This’. The album, set for release on the venerable ‘Strictly Rhythm’ label, sees Westbeech record across the globe with a wealth of house and techno producers including Henrick Schwarz, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Midland.

Joining him is another man hugely respected by all who know his music, Dutch producer 2562, the globally respected, techno inspired percussive beat maker who’s been releasing his music on the likes of ‘Tectonic’ since 2008. Not often seen in the UK, Beat Redemption and Found provide a rare opportunity to catch up with two hours of music from one of the world’s most prominent bass producers.

As house, techno and dubstep become ever more indistinguishable, only a few producers manage to bridge genres and remain as genuinely unbiased in their output as Midland; a man whose music has been gathering momentum since his arrival on the scene with ‘Your Words Matter’ (a collaboration with his friend Ramadanman) released on Will Saul’s ‘Aus Music’ label in 2010. Now regarded as one of the scenes most talented rising stars, Midlands sets have little regard for tempo or genre, he just plays music to please himself.

Rounding off the bill is the mysterious Joe, a shadowy producer whose music for the ‘Hessle Audio’ and ‘Apple Pips’ labels has, over the course of the past few years, made the wider bass community sit up and take notice. His masterful command of stylistically brutal percussion, minimal arrangements and heavy sub bass really make his music stand out.

Join The Dots

Join the dots is a kind of paper puzzle containing a sequence of numbered dots. The puzzle is completed by drawing lines between the dots in order of the numbers, starting with a line between the dot next to the number one and the number two, and continuing on until the last number is reached. The drawn lines reveal a hidden picture.

Join the dots is also a record label. We do not aim to puzzle you. What we do, do is release tracks and work with artists we love. Join the Dots though is aimed at being more than singularly a musical project, the idea behind the name stems not simply from joining the dots between musical genres but more from encouraging artists of all types from right across the spectrum to become involved with multi media projects; from video through music into graphic design as well as encouraging promoters and DJs to become involved. Pushing the spectrum of the traditional production house and evolving the concept of a record label.

A dance music label, that is not simply focused on dance music. We aim to look to the future yet all the time still rooted in the love and curation of music.

The phrase “connect the dots” is sometimes used as a metaphor to illustrate a person’s ability (or inability) to associate one idea with another. “Connect the dots” is also slang for touching your private parts.
