The Top End Four-Day Tour

Follow us on Google News

There’s no landscape quite like that in the Top End of Australia…

Breathtaking escarpments, croc-infested wetlands, Aboriginal rock art and dramatic pockets of oasis make up the Top End’s biggest attractions –Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield – and you can explore all three with Kakadu Wild Expeditions.

The Four-Day Kakadu, Katherine & Litchfield tour leaves from the Northern Territory capital of Darwin, and the first stop is Litchfield National Park. In just one day, you’ll see the flowing water of Florence Falls and Wangi Falls, take a picnic in the tropics, wander the rainforest and embark on a cruise of the Mary River Wetlands where crocodiles lurk in the waters. Before your first night at camp, you get to feast on an outback Australian pub meal.

Wake early on day two to head into Kakadu National Park – Australia’s largest national park at 20,000 square kilometres – where you’ll first discover the ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr, and then take in the incredible views of the Nardab floodplain. Next, refresh with a reviving swim as you soak up the plunge pools of Maguk a.k.a Barramundi Gorge, followed by another night under the stars.

You can start day three with an optional scenic flight over Kakadu for only $150, which is the only way you can truly take in the sprawling landscape of Kakadu. You then receive a lesson in Aboriginal culture with more rock art sites and 20,000 years of tradition, after which you visit the gold-mining town of Pine Creek and enjoy a quick swim at Edith Falls. Heading into Katherine, you arrive at your campsite on the edge of Nitmiluk National Park for your final night on this tour.

Experience 23-million-year-old Katherine Gorge on your fourth and final day on a cruise or canoe (season dependent and optional add-on), then get closer to Aboriginal culture with a display in fire making, boomerang and spear throwing, and painting. After trying your hand at Aboriginal art, it’s time to head back to Darwin with your new friends.

From $1,245pp the Four-Day Kakadu, Katherine & Litchfield tour includes safari camp accommodation, meals, an experienced guide and national park entry.
