Four Tips For Healthy Travel
One of the hardest things to do while travelling is to keep a check on your health. All that moving around, boarding boats, planes and buses to new and different locations, can be a strain. Keep these things in mind to ensure that you stick to healthy travel.
A Good Diet
When travelling, you need to stay refuelled and hydrated, and the best way to do this is with a good, clean diet. Vegetarian and vegan diets are more popular than ever due to the basic ingredients and no added anything. And wherever you go, make sure you have a bottle of water with you at all times, particularly in warm locations, when the sun is at its highest in the sky, and you’re travelling a far distance for a long time. It’s simple, but easy to forget.
Drink Clean Water
That being said, make sure that water is clean water, as it will only be detrimental to you should you be filling yourself with dirty water. In any location, make sure you check whether the tap water is clean – even to brush your teeth with. In some cities in Asia, such as Bangkok and Panang, things have improved, but in more regional locations, tap water will not be sanitary.
Do Some Yoga
The benefits of yoga are extraordinary for a frequent traveller. Creating a positive energy flow and building up your immune system, you can prevent any illnesses occurring. This is especially important when travelling in a crowd in a small space. You can practice yoga pretty much anywhere, but we’re blessed with so many yoga schools whether you’re in Thailand or Italy. Anybody that has a smartphone can find a school local to them, participate in a class and meet new people, all enhancing your travel experience.
Travel Insurance Only Goes So Far
Always get travel insurance so that you’re covered for any accidents, but remember that there are some things that your travel insurance won’t cover. For instance, you might think that hiring a motorcycle would be a fun thing to do while abroad, but just like back home, you need a motorcycle license. You may not be asked by the rental company if you have one, but if you have an accident and medical bills need paying, and you don’t have a license, your travel insurance won’t pay out.
