Alongside their appearance in Splendour In The Grass, Future Islands are gifting us with two extra sideshows. If you lost out on the sold out festival then you have another chance to experience the tantalising atmosphere they set through these special shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
The combined geniuses of Samuel T. Herring, William Cashion and Gerrit Welmers give way to their fourth album, ‘Singles’, which was brought to viral success through The Late Show With David Letterman. If you haven’t already seen it then we recommend you check it out here:
From this video it is obvious that the sideshows are a must-see. An appearance at Splendour In The Grass just wasn’t enough for these musicians, they wanted you to have more of them and they came up with the best way possible. They’ve come a long way since their beginning in Baltimore but it’s obvious that there is still so much more to come. So far the album has received high praise in reviews and comments. NPR says that “Singles is extremely catchy, well-constructed classic pop: winsome and simple melodies, yearning lyrics, bass lines that will never die. It is also dark and desperate and serious in a way that feels fairly rare these days. There is no ironic withdrawal, no equivocation to avoid abuse, just pure commitment.” To feel this sense of wonderment and yearning make sure you have a ticket with your name on it.
