Gavin James Australia Tour Interview 2019 | Tour Dates & Indo
Gavin James Talks About Ed Sheran, Sam Smith his Australia Tour & Hitting 1 Billion Streams
Hey Gavin, how excited are you to return to Australia?
I can’t wait to get back to Australia, the last tour was amazing and while there I recorded a track with Bliss N ESO that went onto win an Aria Award which is crazy!
You’ve kicked off your World Tour with shows across a good chunk of Europe already, how has it been so far?
The Tour has been Epic I have my band with me this time around, with so many back to back shows, we have been all heathy eating avocados, salads and loads of water to keep the voice strong
You’ve opened for some massive acts – Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, & Niall Horan just to name a few. What were these shows like?
They are all great guys, Ed offered me the gig while in Whelans pub at 2am and Niall is a legend we did his US tour last year and Sam’s US tour the year before!
How’s it been performing songs from your latest album now that it’s been out for a few months?
It’s been great to finally play the songs from the new album and its been amazing to see the reaction when everyone is singing the new songs back. I can’t wait to
play them in Australia!
You started 2019 headlining Dublin’s New Years Eve festival. How did it feel kicking off the new year in your home town?
It was unreal to be playing and counting down New Years to the nation. Only a few years back I was singing 7 nights a week, down the road in Temple Bar!
You’ve just reached 1 billion streams on Spotify which is a MASSIVE number. Has this been one of those “pinch yourself” moments?
It really hard to comprehend that many streams, and it’s an amazing start to my new album!
How have you been prepping to get you ready for the Australian shows?
The touring so far in the US and Europe have been getting better every night so with the tour ending in Australian we will be on top form!
Will you get some time out while you’re here to check out the sights?
Unfortunately this time around it’s a quick trip but looking forward to meeting Austrian fans!
Are there any Australian artists you would love to collaborate with? I just meet, Guy Sebastian in Amsterdam last week he’s got a great voice!
When you’re not doing music what else do you enjoy?
I’m mad into films: any time I have free time I’ll try to find the closest cinema. I went to see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald twice; other than that I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody. People have said that it didn’t reflect real life, but I loved it..
And finally, which city you’ve toured to date has the best chicken wings?
Good question…but which city in Australia has the best chicken wings? Please let me know
