
Gaze Upon The Northern Lights
It’s one of the most stunning sights in the world, so you’ll want to know where the best places to see it. We’re talking about the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis if you’re one for scientific names. When solar winds from our Sun interact with the Earth’s magnetic the positively charged particles react with the gases in our atmosphere which creates the glow of colours in the sky we see.
Now the science part is over, let’s get to letting you know where in the world are the best places to gaze upon the Northern Lights. The season to see the spectacle is upon again. From September straight through until April is the best time in the year to catch the light show and some of the best places to see them are in the North of Europe. But, we’ve given you a couple other places out of Europe to enjoy the Northern Lights.

Sweden

Kiruna, Sweden displays an amazing showing of the Northern Lights and if you chose to make the trip there, we doubt that you would be let down by the sights. The people in Sweden are very welcoming and there are a host of choices when it comes to accommodation. But, book fast as it is a popular destination for fans of the light show.
Iceland
Iceland is a peaceful country and it becomes that much more tranquil when you’re observing the Aurora Borealis there. Visit Hotel ION, just an hours drive from Reykjavik where you’ll be near the Thingvellir National Park and have clear views of the sky without the distraction of city lights.
Finland

Famous for more than just Lapland, Finland is a hot spot for viewing the Northern Lights. During the day enjoy some cross- country tours and in the evening swap your skis for snow boots for night time treks where you’ll be able to take time to see the light show.
Canada

Why would you restrict yourself to the North of Europe to enjoy the Northern Lights, when you can cross the North Atlantic and visit Canada. Churchill, in the Candian province of Manitoba provides some of the best in North America to get a sighting and what’s a better way to get out in to the open to find clear skies than on a Tundra Buggy?
And then there’s possibly the best seat in the house…
