Glee’s Cory Monteith Dead at 31
Cory Monteith, star of FOX’s hit TV show Glee, was found dead in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver.
With no indications of foul play, cleaners made the shocking discovery at noon on Saturday when Cory failed to check out of his hotel room. With a history of drug addiction and stints in rehab, one as recent as April this year, a drug overdose has not been written off as the cause of death, despite sources claiming he was in good spirits prior to returning to his room alone.
The death has devastated Hollywood and fans of Glee, in which Cory played the role of cute heartthrob Finn Hudson. Celebrities flocked to Twitter to express their grief and sorrow including Zooey Deschanel, who claimed it was a “tragic loss of a very talented young man”; Selena Gomez posted “This hurts. I love you Cory. Rest in peace,” accompanied by a photo of the two hugging; and Mark Salling, who starred alongside Cory, wrote “Going through a million memories and emotions today. I’ll love you always Brother Cory.”
Meanwhile, Cory’s Glee and real-life girlfriend Lea Michele released a statement requesting to be able to grieve in peace, but sources have described her as hysterical and inconsolable.
