Grey Ghost Releases ‘Black Ghost Gold Chain’
Lauded local musical genius Grey Ghost unleashes the follow-up to last month’s ‘Space Ambassador’, the nostalgic and other-worldly ‘Black Ghost Gold Chain’.
Premiered on Triple J’s benchmark new music program, 2012, with Caroline Tran, ‘Black Ghost Gold Chain’ is a song about a “younger, bright eyed Grey Ghost and his psychedelic experiences. A “Smoked out sucker scarlet eyes on the prize.”.
Street Press Australia’s The Music.com.au premiered the video exclusively last week, and with the Grey Ghost EP already out, media is wasting no time in jumping on the Grey Ghost bandwagon. Sydney’s The Brag has donned it “… an entirely new genre altogether.”
“Black Ghost Gold Chain” is a great hip-hop track with some stellar rhymes devoid of samples, which is a fresh touch”, says The AU Review.
In the words of Grey Ghost himself, ‘Black Ghost Gold Chain’ represents a rebirth of sorts; “When I was young I went a little crazy and kinda lost myself, like a lot of my friends did. This song is a celebration of coming out of that space. I wanted to write a party track about the side of partying peeps don’t usually talk about.”
Grey Ghost has collaborated with producers Jan Skubiszewski (Jackson Jackson) and Matik (Drapht, Bliss n Eso), along with a production team including Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Helmet) and Scott Horscroft (silverchair, The Presets) to deliver an impeccable self-titled debut EP. The dynamic artist left audiences around New South Wales in awe following his recent run of showcase events. Don’t miss your chance to catch Grey Ghost in action this April!
