guy-This month, the Israeli Producer, DJ and Live Act, Guy J, will be playing at the infamous Chinese Laundry. Known for his electric live shows and sophisticated beats, his unique sound is unrivalled in the House spectrum. He has worked with the legendary John Digweed and recently launched his very own label Lost & Found, a sub-label for Digweed’s Bedrock. With so much more in the pipeline, BBM catch up with Guy before he makes his hotly anticipated appearance at the Laundry.

Hey Guy, how are you?
Very, very good.

Where in the world are you now?
In Argentina!

Lovely! So, what first sparked your passion for House music and made you pursue this career?
The availability for music to be so emotional and still be able to dance to it, I was exposed to House Music at the end of 90s and the music was breath-taking, all the melodies were so original. I wanted to be part of this amazing world.

Congratulations on the Balance comp! How long did it take you to put this together and what can we expect from your Balance Presents?
Thank you, I think it took me around three months to make this balance, I was looking for an idea that will be different from a regular compilation and decided to go for a remix and edit mix cd. I Got some originals from some amazing artists and gave them my touch, I’m lucky to be surrounded with amazing producers who are also so supportive.

You’re playing some worldwide gigs and festivals this year, is there any one in particular that you’re looking forward to the most?
Yes , club Bahrein in Buenos Aires, there is always some magic in this club, the crowd know the DJs very well and they just let him do whatever he wants, every time I go I’m waiting to come back.

Who can we see you collaborating with this year?
There are few artists I’m hoping I’ll start working with soon, I just think it will start from next year, it is a very busy year for me with the Balance and everything around so I want first to focus on it and then clear my mind to work with someone else. I want it to be a good sounding project with whoever it will be, I need to be dedicated to it.

You’re going to be returning to Chinese Laundry this year, what can we expect from your set?
In Chinese laundry I’m going to play some music from my Balance cd of course, and some new originals and remixes I made recently. It’s been an inspiring year and I have a lot to share through music, also there is a lot of great music coming onto my label “Lost & Found” and cannot wait to play it out at the club.

We’re looking forward to it. What else are you planning on doing while you’re in Australia or is it a flying visit?
I Have family in Australia so I will use the opportunity to spend some time with them.

You’re off to Bali at the end of the month, have you played there before? What are you looking forward to about playing out there?
I’ve never been to Bali, I’m always excited to go to new places and I’ve heard great stuff about it, especially about the club I’m going to play at.

We spoke with John Digweed last month, what’s it like working alongside him? What’s your relationship like?
John for me is one of most Inspiring people in House Music , I’ve been lucky to work with him and have my label under the wings of Bedrock. I don’t know many people who take what they do in night life the way he does, very dedicated and passionate after long time. He has so much to give to the industry, I’m just trying to learn.

How are things coming along with your label Lost & Found?
Lost & Found is doing great, I believe the music coming out is keeping on quality and originality. Until now I had artists from all different genres like Kevin Yost , Secret Cinema , BP , Guy Mantzur & Sahar Z on the label, each one does something else but all keep on Quality. I’m happy I have a way to present good music to this world.

Have you unearthed any new artists that our readers should be looking out for later this year?
YES! Navar is doing some amazing stuff at the moment and also Juan Deminicis, look out for their stuff.

What’s been your most memorable career moment to date?
Getting first request for a gig abroad, feeling like “I Made it”. The amazing thing is it was like discovering this feeling every time I get to play somewhere, it feels like the first time.

Thanks so much, and enjoy your day!
