The video offers a sneak peek into what it’s like to see The Bongo Club live. The video is vibrant, showcases their explosive energy and takes one onto to the road with them. Snippets from everywhere including their hometown Borås, Berlin and Mexico City, the video gives the audience a taste of what they’re all about. Their hard-touring lifestyle makes them experts in the best places across the world, and how to survive life on the road, and they’ve given us their top tips.
What has been your favourite live performance to date and why?
– We did a gig in Latvia a couple of years ago at Positivus Festival. It was one of our first shows at a bigger festival and within 5 minutes our tent was full of people. We had never experienced anything like it before.
Give us 5 current artists you would recommend we listen to right now (any genre you like)
– The Vaccines, The Magic Gang, Shame, Paper Buoys and Vant.
How did you put together the new video for ‘What You Want Us To Be’?
– We always try to film as much as possible when we’re out. For this video we gathered what we had on our phones and cameras and put together what we like to think is a great video.
What was the best pub/bar/club you’ve been through on tour?
– It’s difficult to choose only one since there are so many great memories from all over. Some venues that has stood out though is Vera in Groningen, Lido in Berlin and Hootananny in Inverness!
Having toured so much, what tips do you have to survive life on the road?
– Don’t rely too much on the GPS. Reading signs can be a good thing. Once we were on our way to Paris and ended up in the Netherlands. Don’t ask me how.
What’s the name of your favourite local back home in Borås?
– Our go-to place is Wiser’s Pub where we also had a fantastic release of our album ”Anybody Have A Lighter?”. The place was completely crammed and it was one of the best nights in a long time.
When was the last time you had a proper holiday and where did you go?
– Last year was the first time in years me and Erik had the chance to go on a proper holiday. We went to Greece with our girlfriends and spent our days in the sun and the evenings drinking local wine!
What’s the best street food you ever ate?
– It’s gonna have to be the street food of Mexico City. Delicious quesadillas with the most spicy sauces I’ve ever had. Just a brilliant city with brilliant people and food.
