Head South To Kangaroo Island
If you’re looking for a scenic getaway then why not head south to Kangaroo Island.
The spectacular beaches of Kangaroo Island are perfect for surfing at Vivonne Bay, fishing at Emu Bay and swimming in the enchanting waters of the secret beach at Stokes Bay.
Kangaroo Island offers extensive Australian wildlife, including koalas, possums, echidnas, reptiles, Australian and New Zealand fur-seals, and of course, kangaroos and wallabies. Kangaroo Island also harbours an extensive birdlife population, and you may even spot bottle nose dolphins off the coast.
World renowned for its rare rock formations, visit the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral’s Arch, sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years, located at Cape du Couedic in Flinders Chase National Park. From Admiral’s Arch you can see New Zealand’s fur-seals lolling about on the beach. Breeding season occurs in the summer, so look out for seal pups playing near the rock pools beneath the arch if you visit in the next couple of months.
From hiring holiday homes, staying at a lodge or even camping out at the many caravan and camping parks, there are accommodation options for any budget. Kangaroo Island has 509km of coastline for you to explore, so make sure you spend a lengthy visit making the most of everything there is to offer. Whether you want to go seal-spotting, surf down the sand dunes in Vivonne Bay or sail past sparkling beaches, Kangaroo Island is a land waiting for youto discover.
