Heart Trips by Carla Review
We’d like to introduce you to the debut single Heart Trips by Carla, a guitar band with an electro edge hailing from Liverpool. This year has seen the steady resurgence of the indie-pop genre popularised in the early 00s and new material from acts like Jamie T and The Kooks is once again seeing a fair amount air time. This four-piece clearly have roots in the same sound. Indeed, for a band so young they have already received a generous level of attention, having been played on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show and picking up promising support from taste maker blogs.
It is undoubtedly a tune made for this time of year; light poppy guitars and synth backing brought together with a solidly catchy melody. Although guitar driven, these guys have obviously drawn influences from all over the musical spectrum, leading to a well rounded sound with a level of depth that could, potentially, take them far.
Of course, it is still early days; the band have accrued a small but enthusiastic online following, having only set up their Twitter account last week. This serves as a reminder of how far they’ve got to go, and you can’t help but feel that the proof will be in the pudding and a knock out live performance will solidify their reputation as ones to watch. With their new single being released later this month and a slot at Bingley Music Festival alongside acts such a Gorgon City and MNEK on the horizon, we may not have to wait long to find out.
