Among the famous places in Harvey Bay, the Urangan Pier takes a very important place. Fraser Island
The main attraction of Hervey Bay is Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. In accessing the Fraser Island, you can take a ferry at River Heads, which is about 20 minutes away from Hervey Bay. The ferry ride to Fraser Island will take about 50 minutes. Although the cost for the ferry ride is on the expensive side, the experience gained in visiting Fraser Island is well worth the money.
Heritage-listed in 1992 by the UNESCO, Fraser Island stretches over more than a whopping distance of 120 km. The island reeks of exceptional natural beauty including miles of picturesque white beaches, a myriad of sand cliffs colored with striking hues, virgin rainforests, sheltered mangrove areas as well as perched dune lakes. Besides, the island is home to a large number of animals as well as birds including the famous dingo. The waters around the island are teeming of aquatic animals including dugongs, dolphins, manta rays, sharks as well as migrating humpback whales.
