Highlights From London's Lovebox 2015
One of London’s premier day festivals, we visited Victoria Park on Friday 17th July to experience the outstanding line-up for Lovebox 2015.
Lovebox Festival 2015 certainly did not disappoint. East London’s gorgeous Victoria Park was the location again, where despite the high security checks; the entry system was highly organised and fairly quick. Compared with other UK festivals, Lovebox is more suitable for first time goers who want to experience a day festival. Victoria Park with its tree lined grassy areas and woody clusters make Lovebox that bit more magical, certainly more special than a grubby, muddy field!
The weather is obviously a major factor at festivals, and luckily Friday’s glorious sunshine and cool breeze added to the perfect festival atmosphere. All smiles around, bottles of £5.50 beer in hand, crowds were ready for the music. Although targeted to electronic dance fans, the range of music this year did cater for other genres, meaning a variety of all ages could enjoy the festival together. Children and the elderly alike were both singing and dancing, creating a very family orientated vibe; however it is clear the younger generation dominates festival. Not forgetting the all important fashion element, the trendy crowd of East London showcased brightly coloured playsuits, denim cut-offs and the cliché yet adorable flower head-garlands.
Blonde, MK and Karen Harding were exceptional and extremely popular with the crowd who were full of energy. Ella Eyre held the stage in a turquoise glittery number, performing to her absolute best with immense stage presence. The highlight and headline had to be Rudimental; the crowd were buzzing from the first track! Extraordinary lighting, colourful smoke, amazing live band and very powerful voices together meant an electric performance was in order. The entire Lovebox line-up was incredible, and the acts performances definitely lived up to their massive names. Along with the music, Lovebox featured an 80s style roller disco, fairground rides including Monkey Swings, small fashion stalls, massage relaxation zone, a huge skating arena, poetry performance tent and much more!
Although the drinks are relatively pricey (expected at an event such as this), venues such as the cocktail bar, gin bar, rum tent and standard beer and wine tent should cater for all tastes. The enormous variety of food available is somewhat good value for money, from Spanish churros to Caribbean jerk chicken, the best mac’n’cheese in London and our favourite The Big Dog from the Saucy Chip Co, the culinary delights were certainly gourmet at this festival.
As the evening came to an end, the glorious pink hazy sunset hung low over the festival, and blended with the Victoria Park’s golden sandy glow, Lovebox was a picture perfect sight. If the Line-up next year is as superior as it was this weekend, we will be returning for sure- we highly recommend.
