Infected Mushroom Interview
Amit and Erez are Infected Mushroom, the psychedelic trance duo that has taken the sound global. Whether playing with a live band or DJing behind the decks, seeing them is an experience no one can match. Currently on a tour of Australia and New Zealand, we caught up with one-half of this groundbreaking team to chat music, touring and the Infected Mushroom experience.
Hi Amit, how are you?
Doing great thanks! Great to be back in Australia! We love it Down Undah!
How’s the tour going so far? Has it fulfilled your expectations?
Yes, we are so happy to be back. It’s been over a year since our last visit. So far the shows have been killer and we are super stoked! Looking forward to the rest of the cities!
How does the Infected Mushroom experience, set and atmosphere differ between a live band show and a DJ set?
Well, in the past we did 3D projection mapping onto two huge spheres, but now we have a new set with crazy mushrooms that shoot fire and steam while they move around the stage. This new production is so far only available in America BUT it includes our live band which is something our past 3D mapped production did not do. A DJ set is just me and Erez; not so many bells and whistles, but we have a great time no matter what kind of set we play.
While the shows are your priority, are you hoping to explore much during your time Down Under?
I wish! We have about ten shows in just as many days so I won’t have much downtime on this tour.
It’s your first time in New Zealand; is it daunting to play somewhere for the first time? Are you already aware of the fanbase before you head somewhere new?
We love playing in new places for the first time. We love seeing new sights, meeting new fans, playing new venues, and eating new food. It inspires us. We have had a lot of outreach from our Kiwi fans, so we are pumped to be here with you all!
You’ve taken psychedelic trance global; where in the world has surprised or impressed you the most when taking your music on tour?
Nothing surprises us anymore, but if you can believe it, Finland has a pretty dope Psy scene.
Is there a venue or city you’ve yet to play that you really want to?
Olympics!
Thanks, Amit!
