IT’S BACK: After two phenomenal and fun nights so far, Insert Coin(s) team is proud to announce Insert Coin(s): presents The Darkness II on Thursday, January 19 at Oxford Art Factory. Start the New Year off with a bang!

The new event series pays tribute to old school arcades, bringing together games, music and art – as well as geek culture and fashion – in a venue that is already known for setting the trends in these spaces.

This time, thanks to 2K Games Australia, ‘The Darkness II’ will be fully playable on 10 screens ahead of release on February 10! This hotly anticipated comic book horror shooter will be hot property all night long, only at Insert Coin(s).

Mark Gerber, Co-founder and proprietor of the Oxford Art Factory, believes “Insert Coin(s) is the most fun I’ve had in years and we think Sydneysiders are in for the biggest event yet in January and onwards in 2012! Bring it on let’s meet in The DARKNESS II JAN 19TH!”

Attendees pay just $10 for a night of retro gaming (tabletop, pinball and standing arcade units) and the latest gaming titles). DJs will spin a blend of 80s, 90s and there are many more surprises in store on the night.

Co-founder Patrick Kolan adds, “After more than 700 people attended the last Insert Coin(s) night, we really had to raise the bar. 2K Australia’s The Darkness II was a natural choice for our event series – and I think it’s gonna be a hit with gamers on the night. Roll on, Level 3!”

Graffiti artists handpicked by Shannon McKinnon from Aisle6ix Industries and responsible for Secret Wars Australia will take pen and ink to giant canvases, creating live art inspired by video games…

A custom 80s-style milk bar, built into the venue, will serve alcoholic milkshakes and there will be free candy and surprises all night! A New York-style hot dog vendor will also serve foot-long ‘dogs with every topping imaginable. Doors open at 6pm.

As arcades become a rarity, nights like Insert Coin(s) give a new generation a taste of yesteryear – but with the edge of ‘cool’ that patrons have come to expect from the team at Oxford Art Factory.

It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado, now Don of the Franchetti crime family, used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power and now The Darkness wants out. A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie’s life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war which has clearly been orchestrated by some outside force. The botched attempt opens the door for The Darkness to reemerge, and sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse as he unravels the mystery behind theattack and the motivations of The Darkness itself.
