Kakkmaddafakka talk through dream collabs and announce fifth full-length. Following from their well-received 2017 album ‘Hus’, Norwegian indie-rock outfit KAKKMADDAFAKKA look to return to their most honest and intimate roots with the unveiling of their latest single ‘Naked Blue’, lifted from the band’s forthcoming fifth studio LP via Bergen Mafia Records.
Releasing back-to-back albums in 2016 and 2017, the band took the opportunity to spend the majority of this year on the road, gathering inspiration and influence at every turn. Now with their fifth full-length on the way, the six-piece outfit return with ‘Naked Blue’, a more humbled and mellowed affair.
Check out our interview with them below.
Hey Kakkmaddafakka – welcome to BBM. What’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to each of you this year?
Hello!
A lot of exciting things have happened this year! But the most exciting thing that’s happened must be the recording of our new record witch have been a great experience and a lot of fun!
For those who haven’t heard your music yet, how would you best describe your sound?
A fresh band sound from the north, with stories to tell.
Can you tell us the message behind ‘Naked Blue’?
Naked Blue is a vibe. Summer vibes, Summer nights, and relationships.
How did the project Kakkmaddafakka materialise?
Axe and Pish are brothers. Sti went to kindergarten with Pish. Kitts went to school with Sti and Pish. Pas was the coolest guy in town! The stars were aligned, it had to happen… Kakkmaddafakka talk through dream collabs and announce fifth full-length.
Where do you all tend to write your music, do you think it influences your style at all?
We write our music in Bergen! And yes the city is reflected both in our sound and lyrics.
When was the last time you guys had a proper holiday and where did you go?
We tend to go to Siracusa, Italy to visit our great friend Erlend Øye a lot! We’ve also got a “band” house down there now which is exciting!
Who would be each of your dream collabs – dead or alive?
Think it would be cool to make a song with George Michael and John Lennon! But alive, it would be great to be in the studio with Young Thug.
Each of you, name a record you couldn’t live without?
Sti: George Michael – Older
Axe: Dr. Dre – 2001
Kitts: Chet Baker – Baker’s Holiday
Pish: Kanye West – Yeezus
