Interview with Overjoy!

How do you introduce yourself when you meet someone who doesn’t know you?Something sweet and quick, with a big smile…strong handshake (not too strong)I aim to be as genuine as I can summon at the time.

Where’s your hometown?I was born in New York City, grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey. Métty was born in east LA.

Sum up your sound in three words?Earth, wind, and fire.

When was the last time you went to a gig you weren’t playing?Smashing Pumpkins, Amber Mark, Gabriel Garzón Montano

Where was the last bar you went to and did you have a good night? (we’re looking for recommendations of bars/pubs all over the world)The last truly recommendable night I’ve had recently was a rare, and established disco party called “the loft party”- a “those who know” kind of thing that my friend, Lloyd, decided I needed to experience when visiting nyc this summer. He was right if you ever get a whiff of an invitation…definitely make sure you make sure to go.

Where is the most memorable club/festival/place you’ve ever played? I really enjoyed the show we played in San Diego years ago. The success of the show happened at a crucial time for us S band- people were beginning to noice- they sang along to the words- if felt like it finally happened.

Where’s the most interesting place you have ever travelled to?Tasmania was wild, need a hole ‘mother interview for that story.

Do you have a favourite festival?…..Seeing king Krule at Coachella last year. Felt like it was happening for me.

Name 3 bands/DJ’s/artists we need to check out?Kauf- our father band. Super powerful- indie renowned, toured this year with Cut Copy-completely worth checking out.Peggy Gou- if you get down, you already know.Us. Definitely check us out. More to come.
