Jay Hoad At Northcote Social Club
Walkaboutfish Records are excited to announce that Fijian born didgeridoo and stringed instrument virtuoso Jay Hoad is bringing his unique show back to Victoria in July, performing at the Northcote Social Club on Sunday July 15th, 2pm.
Jay has spent the last six years touring around the globe, following the sun and his inspiration for music throughout the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Fiji, Canada and North America, keeping up a relentless touring schedule whilst passionately learning about third world culture and every style of music he can sink his teeth into.
The result… A very funky and high-energy show that sees Jay sitting in a cockpit of instruments including didgeridoo, Weissenborn lap steel, dulcimer, dulsitar, cigar box guitar, bass, harmonica, ocarina, djembe, percussion, loops, voice and then some. Mouth, hands and feet work in harmony as Jay fuses many genres of music creating a sound that’s hard to believe comes from just one person.
In 2010 Jay was honored to perform with Bob Marley’s “Wailers” on the Northeast leg of their USA tour and has also recently toured with USA super groups Carbon Leaf and the Temptations. This year Jay has appeared at many iconic festivals around the globe including WOMAD, Fiji Jazz and Blues Festival and the Bob Marley Music Festival, USA.
Jay is currently touring worldwide, supporting the release of his second independent album “Stories For The Soul”.
