Kano-Made In The Manor
It’s been a long time coming but Kano’s Made In The Manor is here. Seldom has a Grime album been so eagerly anticipated and delivered with so much style. 3 Wheels Up was the first release and garnered much deserved praise and a huge amount of play time.
Kano is, and has always been, one of the absolute best with words and flow. This is on display from the onset of the album but on the track This Is England he steps it up again: ‘I’m from where Reggie Cray got rich as fuck, who am I to mess tradition up?’ You could quote the whole thing. It’s more autobiographical and more reflective than most Grime without being sensationalist. Kano has turned himself into a raconteur of the history of East London.
It’s funny in parts, sad in others but in all it is interesting and poignant. Especially that bit in Flow Of The Year where he discusses which fruit juice straw would be the best for fellating your mother.
