La Tomatina 2017 – The Messiest Festival In Europe
Every August, you can expect one messy trip to Bunol as La Tomatina takes place. It kind of says it in the name, but as you can imagine you can expect to see, feel and taste a hell of a lot of tomatoes as locals and tourists alike come together for the world’s biggest food fight.
In 2017, the mass celebration will take place from 28th August – 1st September and is basically one giant bloody Mary of a weekend.
The night before La Tomatina can be spent at the Water & Wine Festival in Requeña which only costs €20 to get to. Heading there, you can experience an evening getting acquainted with the Spanish traditions, as well as going to a fake bullfight. At 1am, the chilled atmosphere changes and you are lead through the streets by a brass band as the locals go nuts with a water and wine war – just make sure you take a cup so you can drink some too!
At La Tomatina, you can basically go nuts with hurling tomatoes at strangers and friends alike, but be warned, goggles are advisable, and definitely get a waterproof case for your phone – trust us – it won’t last two minutes against that amount of juicy tomatoes.
During your culturally enriching trip you’ll stay together on a massive party campsite with twin share tents, where you can take advantage of Stoke’s official after party with a €10 unlimited beer and sangria offer to keep you well lubricated.
At 60€ a day, you’ll be provided with accommodation, some hot meals, the campsite party and bus transfers, as well as a massive Stoke campsite party and awesome beach games. Tickets to La Tomatina are extra.
A change of clothes is seriously recommended.
Perfect for the young at heart 18+ traveller.
