Lancelot – Spoken Word
Twenty-one year old Sydney producer Lance Gurisik aka ‘Lancelot’ releases his hotly anticipated debut E.P. ‘We Can Dance’.
Formerly recording as AEONS, Lance spent much of 2011 on a new sound, swapping his traditional instruments and absorbing himself into the exploratory construction of a fresh, deep style of funk house, incorporating orchestral composition learned whilst studying at the elite Sydney Conservatorium of Music, to produce his own unique style.
If lead track ‘Spoken Word’ is a sign of things to come, the future looks very bright for this young producer. A beautifully crafted slice of innovative ‘house/disco/funk ‘, ‘Spoken Word’ effortlessly weaves 90’s staccato piano grooves with crisp funk laden guitar licks over a bed of atmospheric, symphonic melodies that would find a home in many a club or Balearic beach in the height of summer. The track manages to walk a fine line to sound both current and classic, and is sure to generate further recognition for this up and coming talent.
Don’t just take my word for it though, have a listen yourself. Yes that’s right, Lancelot has kindly provided our lucky readers with the opening track ‘Spoken Word’ a sumptuous taste of the E.P. to come, available to download and stream by clicking the image below.
Lancelot ‘We Can Dance EP’ on Binary Records will be available 20th February 2012 on Beatport.
