Laos – A Backpackers Dream

A land shrouded in mystery for eons, Laos has opened its doors in recent years to tourism.

This South-East Asian country is a destination filled with stunning natural beauty, golden Buddhist temples, and a unique and preserved culture.

It’s in Laos where you’ll find an abundance of mountains, waterfalls, rivers and countryside all just waiting to be explored.

Despite its culture being relatively in tact the tourism that has flooded the region in recent years has seen a small influx of modern culture injected into their society.

Things to see in Laos

Throughout its capital city of Vientiane, and its smaller cities as well as the small hill-tribe villages a quiet pace of life has reigned supreme and kept time relatively still compared with the rest of the world. Today you will still see boys and men shepherding water buffalo as well as farmers shifting produce via makeshift carriages and tractors.

The peaceful Buddhist religion is also something that has remained in Laos and on any visit to Laos you’ll see the daily rituals of the Buddhist culture.

Adventure Tours of Laos

Should you be planning a trip to Laos then we suggest embarking on a group tour. The benefits of this include being safe within a group, not missing out on any of the premier tourist destinations and of course travelling with like minded people to want to explore this incredible country.

With so much to see and do, you will want to ensure you have plenty of time. Free And Easy Traveller offer both 25 – 50 day tours that will combine a tour of Laos along with seeing the sights of neighbouring countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.

During your visit to Laos you’ll start off in the city of Luang Prabang, it’s here that you’l see the stunning golden temples and the French architecture. You’ll also witness the great Mekong River as well as thousands of saffron robed Buddhist monks that live in Luang Prabang.

You will also head deep into the Laos jungle where you’ll be surrounded by soaring limestone cliffs, stunning rice terraces and more at the town of Vang Vieng. Interestingly Vang Vieng has been known to throw some of the craziest parties living dubiously outside of the strict Laos law. It’s here that you can also take a picturesque kayaking session down the Nam Song river.
