Larissa Interview
Supporting Peter Andre is one thing, but supporting Lionel Ritchie is a pretty large step in the right direction. Larissa can boast to have achieved both, all before releasing any music whatsoever.
How did this happen then? We sat down with her to find out what’s going on.
Hi Larissa, Good to be speaking with you. How are you doing?
I’m doing good thanks! It’s great to be speaking with you too.
So, i have to ask. How was it supporting Lionel Ritchie on his recent tour?
Touring with Lionel Richie is just the most amazing and exciting experience EVER! The highlight for me has been meeting the legend himself, he has been so warm and welcoming towards me I am so grateful to be on tour with such an amazing man and also performing twice at the London O2 Arena !!
What is it like playing to so many people as a new artist? How was the reception at each gig?
I can’t explain the buzz you get walking out onto a stage in front of 20,000 people and throughout the whole tour I would have performed up to 350,000 people..that concept is just mind-blowing! At first it was a little daunting but when it came to the shows I felt so ready to go out there and perform to such large audiences, it’s everything I’ve ever dreamt of.
Did any show stand out for you in particular as a favourite? If so, why?
One of the most amazing venues I have ever performed at has to be The London O2 Arena. The size of the venue is breath-taking and I have always dreamt of performing at arenas. It was also extra special as a lot of my family and friends were there cheering me on.
What’s Lionel Ritchie like? I saw a feature in The Sun with you guys hugging, is he as friendly and approachable as he comes across?
Lionel Richie has been so amazing towards me. After our Dublin show he requested that we met and said it was lovely to put a face to the voice he had been hearing each night at the shows. He has been so supportive and has given me the blessing of supporting him on tour which I am so grateful for. Opportunities like these are few and far between and I feel so lucky that he chose me to join him on ‘All The Hits All Night Long Tour’
This isn’t the first HUGE support slot you’ve had recently is it. Tell me about last year.
Last year was when everything really kick started for me. The first big show was supporting Matt Cardle and after hearing me sound check he kindly asked me to join him up on stage to duet with him on his song ‘Loving you’ which he recorded with Melanie C. It was such a memorable gig and moment for me. Then a few months later I was hand-picked to support Peter Andre on his 26 date UK Tour.
It was such an amazing experience and really opened my eyes up to the touring world! I was suddenly playing to thousands of people each night and it really made me realise that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
You have a new single coming out, called In Love Alone, really great track. How did this song come about?
I co – wrote this song with the lovely Matt Cardle. It was great to work with him in the studio and it was a written after hearing someone comment that they didn’t want to keep falling in love alone. It was a subject matter we could both relate to, so it stuck.
Where can we expect to see you in the coming month? Any more live shows lined up?
I have lots of exciting things in the pipeline, but one gig that I’m particularly excited about is supporting The one and only ‘Tito Jackson’ on the 17th of July at ‘Under The Bridge’ in Chelsea. It is a one off, rare London solo show, where he will be performing his classic hits as well as some new material from his solo album! This is a show not to be missed and I can’t wait to be a part of it and support such am amazing showman.
