Las Fallas 2026: Valencia’s Spectacular Festival of Fire and Art

Las Fallas 2026 promises an unforgettable celebration of art, fire, and tradition. This iconic festival, held annually in honour of Saint Joseph, will take place from March 15 to 19, 2026, with pre-festival activities starting in late February. It is one of Spain’s most vibrant cultural events, attracting visitors worldwide.

What Are Las Fallas?

Las Fallas is a traditional Valencian festival that combines artistic creativity, satire, and pyrotechnics. During the event, local neighbourhoods build enormous sculptures called “fallas”, made from combustible materials and often depicting humorous or critical scenes of society, politics, or popular culture. These stunning creations are displayed throughout the city and ultimately burned on March 19, in the spectacular event called La Cremà. UNESCO recognised Las Fallas as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016, highlighting its cultural significance.

Key Events of Las Fallas 2026

  • February 22 – La Crida: The festival officially begins when the Fallera Mayor invites everyone to join the celebrations.

  • March 1–19 – La Mascletà: Daily daytime firework displays at 2 PM in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, known for their rhythmic explosions.

  • March 15 – La Plantà: The day the fallas are installed in their official locations across the city.

  • March 16–18—Parades and Despertà: The streets come alive with music, processions, and local festivities, including the Cabalgata del Fuego.

  • March 19—La Cremà: The festival climax is when the fallas are set ablaze in an incredible display of fire and fireworks.

Tips for Enjoying Las Fallas

  • Accommodation: Book early, as hotels fill up quickly during the festival.

  • Clothing: Wear comfortable shoes and light clothing; expect crowded streets and warm weather.

  • Safety: Pay attention to fireworks displays and follow all safety instructions from festival organisers.

Las Fallas 2026 is more than just a festival; it’s a unique cultural experience where art, tradition, and excitement meet. Visitors can expect awe-inspiring sculptures, vibrant parades, and the thrill of firework displays. Whether you are an art lover, a culture enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique travel experience, Las Fallas 2026 is an event not to be missed.
