3 Top European Promoters Talk Travel Inspiration And Festivals

We caught up with 3 of Europe’s top promoters talk travel inspiration, holidays with mum and of course festivals.

STRAWBERRIES & CREEM

Chris Jammer, Festival CEO

Strawberries & Creem takes place on Saturday 15th June at Haggis Farm, Cambridge www.strawberriesandcreem.com

If the festival wasn’t in the country it is, where would you love to hold it?

Personally I think Cambridge UK is the most perfect spot for Strawberries & Creem as it is currently. However If we were to move it I think it would have to celebrate local music and a place producing amazing music in my opinion at the moment is South Africa. So don’t write off Strawberries & Creem Cape Town in the near future!

What’s your top 3 bucket list travel destinations?

3 bucket list destinations that I haven’t yet been to are: Japan, South Africa and India

Which country/city/place have you been to which we should be adding to our bucket lists?

The Cook Islands!

Where’s the best place you’ve ever partied in the world?

Buenos Aires, Argentina

What’s been your most exciting travel moment?

Doing a street party in Rio Brazil was a night I’ll never forget

What’s your favourite city or country for food?

Naples, Italy

What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you on a plane?

I met a member of cabin crew out partying in Spain one time and he was working on my flight home. When he was doing the final thankyou he asked everyone to give me a round of applause for no apparent reason other than being nice to him! It was rather awkward.

Most memorable holiday / travel?

Me and my mum went to Thailand together, it was the only time it had been just us and loved every minute of it.

What’s your spiritual home?

South America, Bolivia or Ecuador

Where’s your next holiday/trip to?

I’m doing a weekend break away with some old school friends in Albufeira Portugal which should be very chilled and relaxing

FLY OPEN AIR

Tom Ketley, Festival Director

FLY Open Air takes place on 18-19th May at Hopetoun House, Edinburgh, hwww.flyopenair.co.uk

If the festival wasn’t in the country it is, where would you love to hold it?

Ibiza

What’s your top 3 bucket list travel destinations?

Drive through Italy (Lake Como, Florence, Rome, Amalfi Coast), Burning Man, Bora Bora

Which country/city/place have you been to which we should be adding to our bucket lists?

Ghana. Still to this day the best place I’ve ever been to… The beaches are amazing and empty, the people are so friendly and you can live like a king on a shoestring budget. Also encountered some absolutely mind boggling things during my time there. Tulum, Mexico too. Amazing place – so good to relax but also explore if you rent a car and go cenote hunting.

Where’s the best place you’ve ever partied in the world?

La Laguna Bali.

What’s been your most exciting travel moment?

Not sure if you can class skulling a 2 litre bottle of strongbow on the Glasgow to Dundee megabus as travelling but breaking out of my call centre job aged 18 to attend the twins [Michael & Jacks] 18th at Dundee University Union is still to this day the most excited I have ever been for an away day and rivalled my answer for best place I’ve ever partied in the world!

What’s your favourite city or country for food?

Rome – Italy.

What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you on a plane?

Flying Glasgow to Ibiza – absolutely bananas flight and inevitably grounded in Paris.

Most memorable holiday / travel?

I recently took my mum to Japan and we did Toyko, Kyoto, Osaka & Hiroshima. It was an amazing trip with everything from big cities to natural beauty. Really cool country, recommend!

What’s your spiritual home?

Not sure if I have one but the place I call home is Bridge of Weir

Where’s your next holiday/trip to?

I’m off to New Zealand next month for my cousin’s wedding but I’m then going to stop off in Australia for 2 weeks and do a bit of travelling on west coast this time.

HOSPITALITY ON THE BEACH

Ed Priest, Promotions Assistant

Hospitality on the Beach takes place 11-15th July at The Garden, Tisno, Croatia www.hospitalityonthebeach.com

If the festival wasn’t in the country it is, where would you love to hold it?

Croatia’s amazing, we really shopped about to find the location and this one was perfect, but I’d love to hold it in somewhere like Bali, incredible beaches, gorgeous climate… but it’s a bit far.

There’s also an abandoned Disney village in Turkey with hundreds of personal castles completely untouched – that would make for a fun few days I’m sure. Hospitality On The Moon has been floated around, but that might just be a touch out of budget for a while…

What’s your top 3 bucket list travel destinations?

That’s a tricky one. The rocky mountains in Colorado seem out of this world. There are so many places in the middle-east that I’d love to visit too. Mainland China would definitely be top of the list though, such a rich history and dance music is really blowing up there so would be the perfect voyage. I’ve always wanted to go to Canada and Jerusalem too.

Which country/city/place have you been to which we should be adding to our bucket lists?

Lisbon and Porto are two fantastic cities, wonderful people, and incredible food, Portugal’s still one of my favourite destinations for sure if you can do both in one journey I’d recommend. Budapest is beautiful, the old-town is something out of a fairy-tale and the Basilica is a sight I’ll never forget. The Greek island of Rhodes is definitely up there too.

Where’s the best place you’ve ever partied in the world?

Probably at an abandoned Military training facility in Wiltshire. It was one of the best parties of my life. Music was spot on all night/day and the weather was beautiful, that was a good weekend. We found loads of empty bullets on the floor, and my mate still wears one around his neck to this day.

What’s been your most exciting travel moment?

I’m not as well travelled as I’d like to be, and there’s lots of the world I’d still like to see. I’m quite a chilled out traveller too, and would rather mosey and lounge around exploring at my own pace than satisfy the adrenaline junky in me. Swimming with Dolphins in Mexico as a kid I guess was pretty cool.

What’s your favourite city or country for food?

Portugal 100%. I could live off Sardines and Wine forever. We had to have a fish ban at work because of the odours caused by my excessive consumption when we moved offices after my last trip. It was a sad day…

What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you on a plane?

When I went to Ibiza I slept the entire way on the plane. I heard the guy next to me being pretty fidgety all throughout the flight. I woke up and got chatting, then slowly put 2 and 2 together. He pulled out something special from his chewing gum pot and asked me if I wanted to partake… but had to pass. How he get through security is beyond me. He was a nice guy though, he organises tours and excursions in Tenerife and I’ve still got his business card.

Most memorable holiday / travel?

Going to Budapest and Amsterdam for Budafest and Spring Break festivals with my Dazed family we’re pretty epic. We DJ’d some amazing clubs and I shared the decks with the likes of Jaguar Skills, High Contrast and The Heatwave. Hospitality On The Beach really did top all of them though, nothing else has come close. They were an indescribable few days and buzzing to get back to Tisno!

What’s your spiritual home?

Bristol has to be up there. Great people and amazing music. I used to live in Bath which is a stone’s throw away but spent far too much time in Bristol. It’s easy to get caught up there though. I was born and raised in London and live here now, and feel that my spiritual and actual home are one and the same at the moment.

Where’s your next holiday/trip to?

We’re organising a lads holiday to the Spanish countryside, but the real jewel of the holiday crown this year is definitely Hospitality On The Beach 2019!
