Live Review: Alt-J, Shepherds Bush Empire, London
The Leeds quartet, alt-J, took the stage at Shepherds Bush Empire on Saturday 19th January, to be welcomed by a sound hungry crowd and an electric atmosphere.
The haunting voice and catchy tones of alt-J were the perfect way to spend a warm evening out of the bitter London snow.
Bass heavy crescendos throughout ‘Fitzpleasure’ amongst beautiful melodic piano riffs within songs such as ‘Something Good’ made for an evening of dance, sway and sing-a-long moments.
The overall sound could have been more bass heavy on certain tracks, however throughout the show alt-J remained mesmerizing and they sounded as crisp as their recordings.
With a change in lighting from past shows, now encompassing spherical lights and added banter with the crowd – Saturday night was a night full of twists and turns of alt-J’s famous tracks sprinkled with mash up mixes of Kylie and Dr. Dre.
A sea of goose bumps and triangles filled the Empire, creating an intimate gig to remember for a long time to come.
