As the sun and cloud battled it out yesterday, BBM thought we’d head down to Blues’N’Roots festival in Fremantle, Perth.
A calm atmosphere filled the air as people sat around enjoying the lazy day at Fremantle Park. As the day had warmed up we kicked back and relaxed to Crosby, Stills and Nash as they made there way through some of their most memorable hits.
Next up were The Specials, who soon turned the mood around at Blues’N’Roots. Soon enough people were up off their various blankets, and cardboard seating arrangements and bobbing along to the ska enthused music that filled Fremantle Park. Hit after hit rolled out whipping the previously calm crowd up into an upbeat and energetic mood. As darkness descended the whole mood changed and all of a sudden it felt as if the festival had doubled in attendees.
To finish the day off, as it was a Sunday after all, we decided to head to The Pogues who had everyone going crazy from the get go. Playing in the tent, not even us festival savvy crowd pushers could make it to the front, so we conceded to stay at a safe distance whilst people jigged out to the irish folk rockers.
It was a fun day for all and we certainly look forward to Blues’N’Roots 2013.
