Looking Ahead…… GoldFrapp
Looking Ahead…… GoldFrapp When BBM reviewed Rocket, the lead single from the band’s fifth album, for our Singles Reviews page, it scored a resounding ‘nil poi’. Then we heard it on the radio, somewhere in the middle of our usual afternoon lull; not only did it serve as the perfect pick-me-up, it had us humming along too.
When they debuted in 2000 with the Mercury Music Prize nominated Felt Mountain, the British electronic duo, comprising of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, quickly made waves across the pond. Third album Supernature won them a Grammy nomination and three number one U.S. dance singles.
Though the band has experimented with a number of styles, their sound remains undoubtedly electronic.
As with most big names in Australia this month, Goldfrapp are here as part of Splendour in the Grass.
