2 Dudes 1 Show is a collaborative effort by Craig McLeod and Sean Ryan. They have individually been performing stand-up comedy since 2007. In 2012 they will be splitting the bill and packing as many laughs as possible into one hour. Craig is British but circumstance & fate brought him to these shores in 2005. This is Sean’s second Comedy Festival show. His debut performance received a number of positive reviews and was awarded four stars by the Herald Sun.

April’s calling kids, and Pickled Beats are throwing another party to celebrate! Come jumpin with us like an easter bunny on speed as local residents Mr. Nice and Dj Ego slam them party jams down! aided by NZ superstar Dj Penfold dropping an AV hip-hop set. The night is shaping up to be another full blown party that the Pickled Beats crew are famous for. Bring some chocolate for the dj’s while you’re at it.

This Easter Sunday at Loop we’d like to showcase two very different sounds from two very talented local artists.
Mondo Loco 9-11pm Mondo Loco is a Melbourne based dj. Collector of Turkish 45’s and obscurities from the ottomanic regions and beyond! His vinyl sets stretch and warp between Turkish and middle eastern psychedelic rock, Anatolian funk to the fuzziest sounds from around the globe! It’s all Mondo Loco!!!!!

Jani Ho 11pm – late Jani’s unique sound finds it roots in minimal techno, jazz and electronica. He has performed 100% live alongside such international artists as Juan Aktins, Derrick May, Cari Lekebush, Moloko, Miss Kittin, Gilles Peterson and many more.

Meet the Two Portly Gentlemen: Polash Larsen and Nic Velissaris. In their new show East Meets West they will be exploring music, masks and mayhem. Watch as an Eastern suburban Bengali comes face to face with a Western suburban Greek. Sparks will fly, cultures will clash, and dance moves will be demolished. East meets West will be a night of idiot-syncrasy like no other. In pursuit of the comedic arts, the Two Portly Gentlemen salute you!

An Irishman, an Englishman and a horse go on an epic journey through Australia… Sound like a joke? Well Burke and Wills’ expedition from bottom to top largely was.
It’s been 150 years since the famous adventure to The Gulf of Carpentaria and to celebrate Charlie Ranger and Nicholas Waxman are bringing A Sunburnt History to the Comedy Festival, a show exploring what really happened at such a defining moment in our country’s history. 1360 kilograms of sugar, a Chinese gong, the stationary cabinet and a cartload of shonky planning, that’s just the packing!

In the first collaboration between Melbourne label Finn Audio & the Melbourne Techno Collective, Mind Music will be a night dedicated to dancefloor rhythms that sound just as good at the bar as they do on the floor. It’s music for your feet, your hips, your ears and your of course your soul. Loop is the perfect location for this one off event, with it’s amazing VJ rig, the dual purpose venue is all cocktails at the front and party out the back. Performing on the night will be Finn Audio’s Jani Ho who will be playing live, the Techno Collective’s Sam McEwin and Matt Radovich and special guest Dean Benson who has been recruited specifically for the evening because of his unbridled ability to rock the house.

ebb&flo is proud to present our third show for 2012. It’s our 11th party to date & time has flown since our inception into the Melbourne underground scene in July 2010. For our April edition we are pulling out our trump card. He is an artist we highly respect and we’ve waited for the right moment for him to grace the ebb&flo controls. Our special guest this month is none other than Mike Callander! Head honcho of Haul Music & all round nice guy, he is one of Melbourne’s leading artists, both as a dj & producer. Read & Rights is a book club with difference: we discuss human rights issues as raised in a variety of literature. Its aim is to generate conversation about human rights that reaches out beyond the law and human rights community. The wonderful thing about literature is that it can break through dry facts and complex laws to engage people with the heart of the matter. This month we will be talking about The Tall Man by Chloe Hooper.

Time to get troppo again Melbourne. This month’s bout sees two local heavyweights going toe to toe. saca la mois DJ!! is one of the universe’s most passionate ambassadors of Nueva Cumbia, his unique collection and DJ style often includes Mexican-style MCing, laser sfx and refreshing rhythm changes. saca la mois DJ!! is also a producer in his own right as a founding member of the Cumbia Cosmonauts. Meanwhile, donning the gloves in the red corner is equatorial jamsmith, Lewis CanCut. Lewis has been playing his signature blend of world beats, percussive house and tropical disco for 7 years. During this time he has held down residencies at the likes of Revolver, First Floor, Lucky Coq, Workshop and more, and is one third of the Congo Tardis #1 crew. Expect a night of all out world-beat badness with Phaic VJ providing some visual perspective. Rum and punch drink specials. 10 – late.

Prognosis is back for yet another delicious dose of audio visual delights at the hands of some of the finest purveyors of progressive propaganda this fine town has to offer. Danny Bonnici returns from semi-retirement to give the Prognosis massive a glimpse into his enviable array of auditory weapons. An amazing musical talent, his huge contribution to the global music scene, both individually and as a member of Nubreed, has cemented him as one of the most highly regarded producers and DJs this country has ever seen. Dave Juric adds support along with residents J-Slyde, Simon Murphy and Aaron Static.

A celebration of an internet meme that has become a genre, fashion, design aesthetic and lifestyle. Enter an aquatic rave paradise with futuristic underwater music from Rachel Haircut (formally Paqman), Rave-Rap Party Madness with Keith!Party, 90’s throwback euphoric power anthems from cTrix and all the finest in seapunk, aquabass and oceanic music from the Orca Pod Elite DJs. The entire event will be encompassed by visuals from two of Melbournes finest VJs, Jayson Haebich and Jean Poole converting LOOP into a cyberpunk atlantis. 10pm – late.


What: SCREENING – MISS REPRESENTATION

The Australian Greens Women’s Network is proud to present a screening of acclaimed documentary Miss Representation at Loop. Premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Miss Representation is written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom and exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself. Cost: $20 All money raised will go towards the establishment and development of the network and its support of women participating in Australian politics.
