Marcel Dettmann To Bring The Techno to Australia
German DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is widely recognized as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. With an iconic residency at Berlin’s world renowned Berghain nightclub and association with the legendary Hard Wax record store, it’s fair to say Dettmann is fully immersed in techno.
In addition to DJing extensively in his home city and at gigs across the world, Dettmann is an innovative producer. His productions consistently evolve and develop as he finds new interpretations of electronic music, while always staying true to his Berlin roots.
Dettmann has released two albums on Ostgut Ton, numerous singles on labels including his own label MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records) among others and remixes for artists of a variety of genres such as Junior Boys, Fever Ray, Moderat, Commix, Clark and Laibach to name a few. His impressive discography also includes complilation albums for Belgian techno label Music Man, London’s Fabric club and Berghain.
Dettmann heads down under for three dates this November starting at Capulet, Brisbane on Friday 11th November, before playing two shows on Saturday 12th November at Melbourne’s smalltown (on the St. Kilda beach alongside Nina Kraviz and Bjarki) and Chinese Laundry in Sydney.
