The Crispy Mat.Joe Double Act Returns
Berlin-based duo Mat.Joe are heading back to Australia for three dates over the New Year period.
Mat.Joe or better known as Matze and Johannes to their parents are two best friends who formed a bond over skateboarding, breakdancing and of course – music. After an early career move to Berlin, they found inspiration in their surroundings and adapted their sound to the city around them. The duo have always shared a passion for hip-hop, then when they discovered house music they married the two together to what has now been dubbed as ‘Crispy Urban House’. In their own words it can be described as “everything you think of when you read it: organic elements, rusty drums, big city vibes”.
Mat.Joe’s list of attributed record labels include Off Recordings, Suara, ALiVE, Mother Records and Hot Creations. An eventful 2016 has seen a string of remixes and releases including a new EP titled Brothers In Crime, three Crispy Urban House podcasts, a set at Fusion Festival and dates played all over the globe. Another notable achievement is their single ‘Weego’ was featured Claptone’s The Masquerade Compilation alongside artists such as Riva Starr, Latmun, Session Victim and Tim Green.
When the duo touch-down in Aus they’ll be playing three dates over a two-week period. The Burdekin in Sydney will play host on NYE, St. Kilda beach’s Riva in Melbourne on NYD, and Geisha Bar in Perth January 7.
