Maybelline NY Brings New York Street Artist KR To Sydney For Mercedes-benz Fashion Week Australia
To celebrate Maybelline NY as the official makeup sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (30 April – 4 May 2012), urban street artist Craig Costello a.k.a KR, will be creating a series of live, on-trend colour inspired art installations and works that will pop up over Sydney’s streetscape.
KR will create his first masterpiece live for all Sydneysiders to see at Angel Place, in the CBD on Thursday, 26th April.
Maybelline NY ambassador Ruby Rose will also collaborate with KR, helping translate it from ‘catwalk to sidewalk.’
Known for his unique ‘dripping ink’ art style, KR will be creating a collection of his streetscape masterpieces in Maybelline NY’s colour trend palates of the season before its anticipated showing at MBFWA.
KR, the founder of KRINK says:
“All of my work is influenced by the surrounding urban environment, with the monolithic installation utilising architecture as sculpture. My work is an evolution and expression of my city roots, with everything from the tools that I use, to the way that paint falls on the surface. By re-purposing existing tools, a simple object like a fire extinguisher, I’ve evolved my work from graffiti to fine art with the drip paint aesthetic becoming known as my signature style. The collaboration with Maybelline NY will bring New York City energy and vitality to the streets of Sydney.”
