Melaleuca is an owner operated, spacious and tranquil, purpose built backpacker retreat set on 6 acres of natural bushland, 5 minutes walk from the sparkling waters of One Mile Beach in Port Stephens. Our accommodation includes cabins, dorm beds, camp sites, Kombi/van sites and, in the summer months, tent hire. We have a huge Main building onsite that houses double kitchens, a lounge and tv/dvd area, with BBQ’s on the decks surrounding. The property is home to a large variety of native birds and animals, including resident kangaroo, Josephine and the shy, but often sighted, Koala bear.

There are numerous activities to do in the area, Melaleuca has a Sand boarding tour with the “fastest” boards in Port Stephens, or we run a winery tour from the property, in addition you can choose activities ranging from sand boarding, surfing, sailing, dolphin or whale watching, horse or camel rides, quad biking, kayaking, walking, fishing, diving, snorkelling, Island discovery cruises, swimming or simply relaxing, we guarantee the best prices on all local activities.

Port Stephens coaches depart daily from Eddie Avenue at Sydney central or catch the Train and the Port Stephens coach from Newcastle. Ask your friendly coach driver to drop you at Melaleuca at One Mile Beach, and we can help you arrange the rest of your stay.
